Matthew “Match” Dawson, Esq., AEP, CTEP, FGAFM

Matthew “Match” Dawson provides counsel on the design and implementation of traditional and sophisticated estate planning, asset protection strategies, and life insurance matters. With an emphasis on minimizing the burdens of transfer taxes and the uncertainty of potential litigation, Match designs strategies and vehicles most appropriate to solve the unique needs of each individual client, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, Wills, asset protection trusts, and business entities.

Prior to forming Dawson Law LLP®, Match began his legal career working for Justice Paul W. Green of the Texas Supreme Court, and later joined the distinguished Austin-based law Firm of Giordani, Swanger, Ripp, & Phillips, LLP.

Match has been serving the estate planning and financial services community for over sixteen years and has earned the prestigious Excellence in Performance award three times, as well as the coveted Chairman’s Club award which recognizes a limited group of financial service professionals for their dedication to the financial services industry. Match also earned Top of the Table honors within the Million Dollar Round Table, the world’s most prestigious financial services organization reserved for the top 1% of global wealth planners. Because of Match’s extensive experience in the life insurance industry, he is uniquely suited to review the appropriateness of existing life insurance structures and to assist clients with their ongoing insurance planning*.

Match is a Chartered Trust and Estate Planner®, a distinguished Fellow of the Global Academy of Finance & Management, and he’s been awarded the prestigious Accredited Estate Planner® designation, an honor bestowed upon only the best trained estate planning attorneys in Texas. Match earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from California State University Sacramento and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from St. Mary’s University School of law. Match later returned to St. Mary’s as a Professor of Law where he teaches doctorate courses in Asset Protection. Match is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas, the Texas Center for Legal Ethics, and the College of the State Bar of Texas. Match is also a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, a collaborative organization of professional service providers who have distinguished themselves through advanced education.

Match and his wife, a large animal veterinarian, favor quiet country living where they raise three spirited children. Match is an avid outdoorsman, a passion he shares with his family, and their RV can often be found at campsites across the great state of Texas.
